Hi Peeps. It's late on Sunday night (12:01am to be exact). I have lots of blog post ideas locked up in my head but rarely plaster them on the blog because I don't have time to make them great. But then I reminded myself that "The perfect is the enemy of the good." So here goes a quickie.
Saturday night I went to the Saigon Loretofest at RMIT university. It's basically an outdoor concert and was a *ton* of fun. I liked the Vietnamese band that sounded like Guns 'n Roses, the lead singer even had the same scratchy voice as Axl Rose. There was some really great blues stuff too.
I was dancing a little Swing with my friend Ciara ("She's Irish don cha know") when I was approached by a woman who exclaimed "charvey!!" I had never met her before. Her name is Barbara and she's from Australia. She told me breathlessly how she had begun reading my blog in Australia before she moved to Viet Nam, and that my lil' ole blog had helped her to make the decision.
Why, I was honored -- and touched. Barbara is my first charvey groupie and she made me feel like a celebrity. It was pretty cool, and inspired me to keep up my posts on life in Vietnam (I've been slack lately). Thanks Barbara, you rock!
